If you have completed at least 30 hours of end-of-life doula or death doula training, the IEOLCA Bridge Pathway allows you to bring that education forward and work toward the IEOLCA Certified End-of-Life Doula credential.

If you have already completed end-of-life doula or death doula training and want a recognized certification credential, the IEOLCA Bridge Pathway to End-of-Life Doula Certification offers a clear next step.
Created for trained doulas, this self-paced pathway allows you to build on your prior learning rather than repeat another full foundational program. You will review IEOLCA's approach through 12 Competency Preparation Guides, complete a 60-question Competency Assessment plus three detailed case studies, and affirm the IEOLCA Code of Ethics and Scope of Practice.
You will not be asked to repeat IEOLCA's complete End-of-Life Doula Training Program or redo foundational learning you have already completed. You may begin the pathway immediately after your application and payment are complete and move through it at your own pace.
The one-time certification fee is $149 USD, with no monthly or recurring fees. If we are unable to accept your prior training for this pathway to certification, your fee will be fully refunded.

Is this pathway to certification right for you?
This pathway to certification is intended for doulas who have already completed end-of-life doula or death doula education and are ready to demonstrate their preparation. Training from established doula education organizations, independent training providers, and community-based programs may all be considered. Each application is reviewed individually.
- You have completed an end-of-life doula or death doula training program involving at least 30 hours of structured instruction, guided coursework, or supervised practical learning.
- You can provide a certificate or other documentation showing completion.
- You are prepared to complete a 60-question Competency Assessment plus three detailed case studies.
- You are willing to work within IEOLCA's Code of Ethics and Scope of Practice.
Prior training must include at least 30 hours of structured instruction, guided coursework, or supervised practical learning across the core responsibilities of the end-of-life doula role. Short introductory workshops, individual webinars, and training focused on only one aspect of end-of-life care do not meet the pathway's eligibility requirements.

Potentially, yes. IEOLCA welcomes applications from internationally trained doulas. Training may be reviewed regardless of country or provider, although supporting documents or an English translation may be requested when needed.
Most participants can expect to spend approximately 10–15 hours completing the Bridge Pathway, depending on their pace, prior training, and the depth of their reflective responses. The pathway is self-paced, and access begins immediately after your application and payment are complete.

There is no additional fee for review or resubmission. Certification is issued once all pathway requirements have been completed and the required competencies have been demonstrated.
