I Was Pleasantly Surprised at How In Depth the Modules Are

“I mainly chose this program for the tuition accessibility after comparing a few other programs. This accessibility makes it possible for more people to help others just as IEOLCA is helping its students. Questions, answered

A little clarity for your next step.

Do I need experience or previous doula certification?

End-of-Life Doula Certification welcomes people new to this work. Pet Death Doula Certification and Dementia training also welcome caregivers, volunteers, and people drawn to those areas. Some grounding in end-of-life care is helpful for Medical Aid in Dying and Rituals. Business Essentials is for people who already have doula training, with IEOLCA or elsewhere.

Which program should I start with?

Choose End-of-Life Doula Certification for a comprehensive foundation in non-medical support through dying, death, and grief. If your calling is to companion animals and the people who love them, Pet Death Doula Certification is its own pathway; the human doula program is not a prerequisite. Our focused programs let you deepen a particular area of care.

Is the training online, and how long do I have to finish?

Every program is online and self-paced, with lifetime access and no completion deadline. End-of-Life Doula Certification involves approximately 35–40 hours of study, with time for reflection and assignments varying by learner. Learn around your work, caregiving, and the rest of your life.

What credential will I receive?

End-of-Life Doula Certification and Pet Death Doula Certification lead to their respective IEOLCA certifications after you meet the program requirements. Dementia, Medical Aid in Dying, Business Essentials, and Rituals award Certificates of Completion. Each full program page explains its requirements. Organizations set their own requirements for employment, volunteering, or contracting.
